The new Food for Life Catering Mark Standards launched on Monday 30th January 2012. The new standards increase flexibility for food providers whilst maintaining the same rigorous principles.

Existing Catering Mark holders have until their 2013 inspection to switch to the new standards. All applications from Monday 30th January 2012 are required to meet the new standards.

The standards for the bronze Catering Mark remain fixed, with five additions to increase the scheme’s focus on health, food education and safety.

The silver and gold Catering Mark Standards have switched to a points system, which rewards every penny spent on ethical, environmentally friendly and local ingredients and recognises steps to offer healthier menus.
