The British Retail Consortium (BRC) developed the standards to help retailers meet legal obligations, protecting their customers under the Food Safety Act 1990.

BRC standards are a set of technical food safety standards for suppliers to retailers with food products. If you are producing own label goods for a multiple retailer or supplying them other produce, we recommend you check with them if you need BRC certification.
