Steps to certification:

- Read the Guidance for COC Applicants
- Complete the Woodmark FSC COC Application Form or Woodmark FSC & PEFC Application Form and email it to wm@soilassociation.org
- Based on information provided in the application form Woodmark will prepare a quote with an estimated time line for certification
- If you want to go ahead with an evaluation, we will send you our contract, schedule and the FSC Trademark Licence Agreement for you to sign and return
- One of Woodmark's lead auditors will carry out a certification audit and produce a report
- After internal review of the report a certification decision will be made
- Subject to satisfactory compliance with the relevant standard a five year certificate will be granted subject to annual surveillance audits.
Forest Management (FM)
- Read either the International or the UK specific guidance notes for FM certification applicants
- Complete the FM Certification Application Form and email to wm@soilassociation.org
- Based on information provided in the application form Woodmark will prepare a quote with an estimated time line for certification
- If you want to go ahead with an evaluation, we will then send you our contract, schedule and the FSC Trademark Licence Agreement for you to sign and return
- A consultation period with local communities, environmental groups, government and scientific researchers identified as stakeholders will then commence for six weeks before the certification audit
- During the audit a multidisciplinary team of Woodmark auditors will assess the applicant's compliance with the relevant certification standard/s and produce a report incorporating issues raised during consultation with stakeholders
- After internal and peer reviews of the certification report have been conducted, a certification decision will be made
- Subject to satisfactory compliance with the relevant standard/s a five year certificate will be granted subject to annual surveillance audits.
Before undertaking a main assessment, the applicant may request that Woodmark carry out a pre-assessment or 'scoping visit' to assess the applicant operation's eligibility for certification. In some circumstances a pre-assessment is mandatory.
