Woodmark Forest Verification of Legal Compliance (FVLC)
Woodmark Forest Verification of Legal Compliance is used to verify compliance with all national harvesting laws. This will be in line with FSC® Principle 1 on legality and will also act as a stage in the stepwise certification standard currently being developed by FSC, the Modular Approach Plan (MAP), which will for the first time provide accreditation for stepwise schemes. By establishing that a forest is managed in conformance with all national laws, forest managers and communities will be able to benefit from assurance that their products are fully acceptable in the EU and US markets. The draft standard is currently under development and will be available for stakeholder consultation - please contact us if you would like to be involved in this.
Woodmark Chain of Custody Verification of Legal Compliance (CVLC)
Woodmark Chain of Custody Verification of Legal Compliance is designed to enable companies sourcing from forests with either Woodmark Forest VLC (see above) or comparable legality verification from another third party (e.g. VLC or OLB schemes), to pass on assurance of legality. Your non-certified products can be assessed at the same time as your normal audit. Please note that if there are breaks in the supply chain and paperwork trail which are not covered by third party checks, field audits may be necessary. Please contact us if this is of interest to you.
Soil Association Woodmark are pleased to announce that our legality standards have been assessed by Proforest on behalf of the European Timber Trade Federation as meeting all the criteria. Please click on the link below to view the Proforest report.
